MEETS VIRGINIA SOLS FOR ANCIENT EGYPT
This packet will give you everything you need to make teaching Egypt a fantastic experience! I have made museums with my students and it is just amazing to see the end result! All you need are about a dozen books about Egypt from the library for reference. Spend a couple days introducing concepts and then divide the class up by "Museum Rooms" and projects and let the investigative exploration begin! The students will be self-directed learners as you create a magnificent museum.
80 pages of great stuff!
This packet has directions for making displays for:
A Rosetta Stone
A large Pyramid
Gods and Goddesses
A water Clock
The Decimal System
3-D physical maps
Agriculture Display for irrigation
A paper mache mask
Collars, headdress, and arm bands
Interactive Notes: foldables for student notebooks
There are games, maps, vocabulary, interactive notes, study cards, a quiz, and more!
One last idea that is not in this packet is to make the outer coffin of a pharoah by getting a refrigerator box from Lowes. Spray paint it gold and then have them create a border with hieroglyphics and ornamental corner pieces. Use mailing tubes or thick wood dowels underneath for carrying it. This sat in the center of our museum and was a focal point - parents and teachers were speechless. The kids visiting thought we had the coolest room!
This is perfect for Virginia social studies SOL #s 2.1 and 2.4
