4. conduct general research on a particular animal and problem
5. demonstrate the ability to present a persuasive presentation appropriate to task and audience
6. demonstrate the ability to plan and structure a project by setting goals and maintaining organization
7. demonstrate the ability to present a proposal using appropriate visual aids (This project can be modified to a poster or essay type format if preferred.)

Materials Used: project description and instructions, rough draft graphic organizer, rubrics, peer observation form
Assessment Overview:
1. Students present on an endangered animal and its environment.
2. Students prepare a persuasive and informative presentation in order to lobby for help for saving the animal. Presentations should include:
 a detailed description of the animal and its environment
 what factors are threatening the animal and/or its habitat
 what we can do to help (recycle, save water, stop cutting down trees, etc.)
 supporting details to persuade the audience in favor of saving the animal
3. Students add visuals to aid presentation.
4. Students will conduct minor research on their own or in class. Suggested website:
