I have always been fascinated by other types of learning activities, be it math, ELA, science, art, music, and journalism. I just always figured that my students in middle school should understand that 'everything' goes together. They need to understand that we are educating the WHOLE child. So therefore I have always come up with various ways to teach my students.
This activity goes a long ways in teaching students how all events are balanced – one historical event hangs on another. All things need to be balanced. We start with a simple mobile and work up to a very complex mobile.
My students have always complained at first about doing math or science in history class but they soon get into working out the problems. My students have always come away smiling and glad they learned how to do these.
Math teachers seem to like that I have always incorporated math into my classes.
