Ready to engage your AP students in a really cool topic, and help them practice digging through a research article at the same time? If yes, then this activity is for you! Er....well....for your kids.

My AP Bio students always love this article. I use it in my genetics unit, after we've touched on epigenetics. It's really fascinating and has great tie-ins to what we talk about in class.

The document, which is ready for Google Classroom and includes the answer key, guides students through the article (which is linked and they can access it digitally, or you can print it for them). They stop every few paragraphs to dig into what they read, and have to look at a data table presented in the article.

Students should have basic familiarity with introns, exons, alternative splicing, methylation, and acetylation, as they tie those concepts in as they read and answer questions.

This is great practice in breaking down a research article, as it's a skill AP Biology students definitely need to be successful on the test.

I also sell this product at a lower price without they key.
