This lab allows biology students to investigate how different factors affect the rate of photosynthesis. The lab includes an expanded background, full list of lab materials, detailed procedure, data table, graph and analysis.
Additionally, this resource includes teacher prep and tips along with a complete answer key. Most materials are common/basic materials found in any typical lab classroom. The only chemical needed is DPIP (can be ordered from a lab supply company if your prep room doesn't already have it stocked). The lab does require the use of a spectrophotometer. In my school, we only have two, so I set one up at each side of my lab and my large class of 28 students (7 groups of 4) share these two specs.
The lab takes students one 60 minute class to set up and read results in the spec. They will need additional time to analyze (either outside of class or during another class period).
