This is a example problem that could be shared with the class or it could be used as an Exit Pass for the class. The problem is a word problem involving related rates and implicit differentiation. The idea of the problem is if you have a ladder leaning against a building wall with the base of the ladder a certain distance from the base of the wall. The wall, ladder and the ground form a right triangle. If the bottom of the ladder is pulled away from the wall, the students need to find the rate of change of the area of the triangle formed by the wall, ladder and the ground.
