This handout comes with an answer key and includes 6 problems. For each problem, students must first graph a piecewise function or a simple transformation of 1/x. The piecewise functions include sine, cosine, natural log, simple linear functions, simple transformations of the quadratic parent function and the absolute value parent function. The students are then asked to give limits, including one-sided limits, for various x-values. They also are asked to evaluate the function and various values of x, for example, give f(-1). All graphs can be done without a graphing calculator.
