Help students think critically about economic theory in the real world by letting them read an article closely from an online journal. Then, have them bring a question about this article to class to participate in a fishbowl discussion about the article. A 2 day student led activity!
This is a great way to hear students discuss what they think about the seemingly dry content in the real world. The many articles allow students to choose an article of interest, and then dig deeper about the meaning and application to the real world.
I used this activity in my AP Macro course after Units 3 and 4, but it can be used at any point in the semester to help them review important concepts such as the Phillips Curve, government spending, and the implications of policy. I printed a digital copy of the handout for all student, but also had access to the digital version on google classroom for students to click on the hyperlinked articles.
Students love discussions, and this document is an easy way to give them the resources for an engaging academic conversation!
