This is a log I use in the AP English Language and Composition course to track student progress in multiple choice. I have them enter each practice exam we take and identify the type of text, question, etc. and how many they answered correctly and incorrectly. I also have them use different colored pens for correct and incorrect. Then I go through their student folders periodically to see how they have progressed by scanning the log. I can see which skills require remediation, for example, maybe they are having consistent difficulty answering purpose questions or questions on tone. I will then pull them into small groups for remediation and reteach that skill. This tells you so much more about their improvement than just knowing how many questions they answered correctly and helps you as a teacher to target areas of weakness. You will also save time by working smarter, not harder, and it will empower your students to know exactly what they need help with and to see how far they have come over the course of the year.
