Description
These research-based (Marzano) proficiency scales for synthesis, rhetorical analysis, and argumentation will foster a growth mindset in your AP Language and Composition students while making strong essay writing achievable. Proficiency scales marry standards-based grading with the College Board standards in an attractive, print-and-go format.
Students often struggle to understand what defines each score level of the AP essay scale. Using proficiency scales makes the qualities of each level explicit while telling students exactly what they need to do to improve to the next score level. Students can use proficiency scales to self-assess and reflect, set goals, evaluate essays, and measure their growth. Teachers can use proficiency scales to break teaching essay writing into manageable parts, differentiate writing instruction, and provide useful feedback.
Included in this download:
-PDF versions of proficiency scales for synthesis, rhetorical analysis, and argumentation essays
-Editable Power Point so that you can edit or adjust each proficiency scale as desired
-Teacher tips for using proficiency scales in the AP classroom
This product is also available in the AP Language and Composition Bundle.
