AP English Literature: Command of Literary Techniques with Quizzes and Tips
Product Description
A Rock the Box product for improving AP Literature test scores (163 pages, including PowerPoint slides), this section involves bringing AP English Literature & Composition students rapidly to a learned place necessary for success. An expansive understanding of literary techniques (not simply a handful of rudimentary concepts, like mood and simile) is essential to students. When students are able to identify on the multiple choice section of the exam terms like dystopia, anaphora, and synecdoche, they gain an advantage over others taking the same test. Additionally, those same students not only understand what the terms mean but also how the terms apply to random prose and poetry passages. They suddenly have the tools to write about advanced literature with greater confidence and acumen. The techniques in this unit become talking points for the essayist in advancing a critical argument. Once my students knew these terms, they were more vocal about their essays and much more confident in expressing their reactions to the three-fold essay examination. This unit also includes quizzes broken into manageable units as well as valuable tips from actual students who succeeded with the troublesome Multiple Choice section of the test.
