This AP GoPo Bundle provides you with TWENTY+ resources that span the length of the course and will save you a lot of time and energy. This is a growing bundle, so I will be adding new resources as I continue building my curriculum. All resources can be adjusted and edited to reflect your needs and style, and most have Google Classroom compatibility.

While these resources will provide you with a great deal of material for teaching the course, it should be used in conjunction with whole-class discussions, activities, and other assignments prepared by you. That said, I use these resources- as they are and with little else, to cover the vast majority of instruction and coursework for my classes. You will receive PowerPoints with student notes for each unit, end-of-unit assessments with AP Exam-styled MCQ and FRQ assessments, vocabulary lists and quizzes for each unit, student resources for AP Government required content- the Foundational Documents, SCOTUS Cases, and a Final Civic Participation Project, and MUCH more!

**Before you purchase**- please look through the previews and product descriptions for each resource to ensure that they fit your needs (look above at “Products in this Bundle”, and click on the “preview” tab to the right of each resource). You can also ask a question in the “Q&A” section, or send me an email at: madhistorian1@gmail.com. I respond within 24 hours!

1. Teaching Course Content

  • When starting a unit, I like the students to have a foundational understanding of the content. I assign a couple of chapters or sections from that unit using the Textbook Guided Reading Questions and Tasks (once a week or so).
  • I follow with teacher-led instruction using the unit PowerPoint and Guided Notes to reinforce what they had read. This provides them with the opportunity to ask questions and to gain a deeper understanding of content. I repeat this process until the entire unit is complete (activities and other assignments are also infused within, as you will see as you continue reading).
  • Each Unit Assessments Package with MCQ Test, FRQ Assessments, and a Study Guide is used to close out the unit.

2. Required Foundational Documents & SCOTUS Cases

  • The “Required Content” Student Resource provides each student with the full text of all nine Foundational Documents and summaries of all fifteen SCOTUS Cases. As I teach course content (see above), I will assign annotations and Student Summaries Chart responses when a Foundational Document appears within a unit. I will often include debate activities (coming soon!) to encourage classroom discussion on the importance of the assigned document.
  • While summaries are provided for the 15 SCOTUS Cases, I prefer to utilize the included Student Expert Assignment for peer teaching and learning. As with the Foundational Documents, Student Expert presentations are conducted when their assigned SCOTUS Case aligns with unit content (I always try to give them a 2-3 week heads up).

3. Current Events & Media Bias Resource

  • The Current Events and Media Bias Political Analyst assignment is HANDS DOWN the most engaging and thought-provoking assignment that I do all year! Can you believe that my students even ask for more of them?! The Political Analyst assignments are very sporadic. I assign them when a major “news worthy” issue or event occurs and is worth analyzing. It is also a great way to break up the monotony of textbook readings and PowerPoints. Students submit a writing piece for a grade, and then participate in a full-period Socratic Seminar to discuss their findings and positions. They LOVE this!
  • The “Media Literacy” Project fulfils the Civic Participation Project requirement as part of the AP course. I assign it after they have taken their exam (I teach in New York, and there are several weeks that remain after the exam). It is also a great culminating extension of their various Political Analyst assignments.

4. Key Concepts Vocab Lists and Quizzes

  • While these are great to use alongside the learning of each unit, I prefer to use the Key Concepts Vocab List & Quiz resource for review before the AP Exam. It helps them to have a fresh memory of important and complex terms. As a bonus, I allow the Key Concepts Quiz to be “open note”. In other words, they are allowed to use the vocabulary list where they were encouraged to write definitions.

5. FRQ Assessments

  • Though these are a part of the Assessments Package for each unit, I often use them as a whole class activity. I project an FRQ to be examined by the class, and ask for volunteers to answer each part. We take time breaking down the stimulus, and discuss how to answer completely and “in the context of” the scenario/data/court case. And, of course, I often use FRQ’s as assignments to complete during review weeks. Included in this bundle is an Argument Essay Organizer. I will often use this as a starting point when teaching them how to write Argument Essays.
