This DBQ can be used for either AP U.S. or AP World History. It mimics the AP DBQ format.

Students read 9 documents addressing various aspects of the sustained contact between Eastern and Western Hemispheric cultures during the Age of Exploration and early European colonization of the Americas (1492-1609).

The documents provided include first-hand accounts from European explorers, cartographers' maps, and a table of economic data.

Students write an essay addressing the following question:

Analyze the ways in which technological, political and economic factors encouraged sustained contact between Europeans and Native Americans between the years 1492-1609.
