Imagery is a rhetorical device communicators often use to support their arguments and be more persuasive. Jonathon Edwards' sermon "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" is an excellent example of how imagery may be used as a tool to achieve purpose.
In this presentation the students will analyze, create, annotate, and evaluate an excerpt from the sermon. A link to the excerpt is provided. This is challenging content meant to be used as a building block for preparing students for rhetorical analysis.
The presentation/ lesson may be used as a replacement for reading the entire sermon or a supplement for classes that have thoroughly investigated it.
