A series of four peer review sheets designed for an AP Language research paper, or for any larger student writing assignment that requires planning. Each peer review sheet asks reviewers to focus on a different area of writing (rhetorical situation, evidence, language & definitions, arrangement). All four sheets end with a final MEDIC (maintain, Eliminate, Decrease, Increase, Change) evaluation of the peer essay.
I typically allow students to choose the areas of focus for their peer reviews, so they get feedback on what areas concern them most. I usually ask for three, but obviously you may vary the number as you see fit for instruction. Typically, prepared students can complete 1-2 reviews in a single class period, depending on the lengths of the drafts.
