Product Description

Freaks and Geeks is an amazing show that only aired for one season. The past 6 years I have used the pilot episode in my class when discussing some of the terms from Unit 14 Social Psychology. Some of the terms we discuss with this pilot is: in-group, outgroup, prejudice, stereotype, normative social influence, groupthink, and conformity. My students LOVE this show and I usually have students that go home and watch the rest of the season on Netflix. (UPDATE: It was removed from Netflix October 2018. However, I did find the episode on Vimeo to use for this year.)

This is a fun way to help students see how some of this psychology definitions play out in real life. My worksheet contains 6 questions that they will answer either during or after the show. This show could also be used in Sociology class when discussing Subcultures. I have included this worksheet with a Sociology title on it as well.

The pilot episode is 47 minutes in length. I usually spend an hour or just over an hour on this activity after you add in time for them to finish the worksheet and debrief.
