Product Description

"Obey at Any Cost?" is a great addition to Unit 14 Social Psychology and/or Unit 2: Research Methods. I use this lesson during Unit 2 when discussing ethics in testing and then reference it again when I get to Unit 14. Stanley Milgram's experiment is one of the most widely known psych experiments and is a great one to cover to in class.

I use this as a homework assignment and we spend a couple of minutes discussing it on its due date. Derren Brown recreated the Milgram experiment a few years back on his show so I always show this clip when debriefing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6GxIuljT3w. You could always use this as an in-class assignment or leave for sub plans. There are 18 questions on this worksheet and I have also included an answer key for your convenience.

I use Roger R. Hock's book (Forty Studies That Changed Psychology) for my class, but you would be able to find a PDF of the article online if your class does not use this book. Please feel free to email me through TpT if you have trouble finding the PDF.

This 2015 film is based off of the 1961 study of Stanley Milgram. Milgram's study focused on people's willingness to obey authority even when it meant harming another. It also helped to understand why people would blindly obey, such as Nazi soldiers in WWII, when given orders by an authority figure.

I created a movie guide with 36 questions to ensure your student is tracking along with the entire film. This film would be great to use when discussing Ethics in Testing or Social Psychology. The answer key has been included for your convenience. The film is 98 minutes and this lesson could be completed in about 2 hours when you factor in discussion time. The movie is rated PG-13 for thematic material and brief strong language.
