Reshma Saujani's TED Talk focuses on how socialization of girls has led them to strive for perfection while boys are taught to be brave. She discusses how things need to shift in order to help girls and women be courageous and accept imperfection. She shares about her company, Girls Who Code, and the impact they are making with women in the coding world. Her talk is engaging and inspiring. This lesson would be great for AP Psychology's Unit 9: Developmental Psychology or Sociology's Gender Unit. This talk would also be great in a Computer Science, Math, or Engineering class.
The talk is just shy of 13 minutes in length. The worksheet includes 15 questions and an answer key is provided for your convenience.
