In this reading comprehension worksheet, students read an article from Univision (see free preview for link) on immigration detention numbres and pre-read questions designed to help them understand the text. They then respond to the text and circle relevant information that they find in the text. Finally, they read an English summary from a study of the economic impacts of illegal immigration, and respond to Costa's level 3 questions regarding our immigration policy.
This worksheet is designed to prep students for the AP Spanish exam, as well as for ACT reading comprehension: there is a lot of scaffolding designed to encourage good test taking habits. In addition, the article discusses in Spanish policy and repercussions of a culturally-relevant topic. Good stuff, and very manageable for my Spanish 3 students.
See preview for a sample. Also, due to copyright concerns, I have only posted the link to the article with the questions. When I teach it, I use the full document on my worksheet, or I project the article and have my students mark the text on the chalkboard.
Best used in Spanish 3, Spanish 4, and Spanish 5. Enjoy the ensuing discussion!
