THE PERSPECTIVE: Global Challenges is a common theme for the AP Spanish Language and Culture course and exam and the International Baccalaureate Language B curriculum and exam. One of the challenges presented in the textbook Temas is Aging, which can also be found in Family and Community, another common theme of both language pathways.

THE PRACTICE: Tú + 50 intentionally guides students to read, write, listen, speak and retain higher level vocabulary and engages reluctant participants. The instructor has a choice of delivering the lesson as a whole class experience or individually tailored for differentiation.

THE PRODUCT: Tú + 50 is scaffolded and supported by authentic resources for listening and reading, lively conversation, comprehension checks, vocabulary retention practices, reflections. formal and informal writing, interpersonal speaking and presenting The student finishes the lesson with a solid understanding of the topic and the terminology needed to express their ideas via speaking and writing.
