This project worked very well for my AP Spanish Language students (and my pre-AP Level 4 students) when introducing them to the presentational speaking cultural comparison task of the AP exam. The instructor/teacher will want to come up with a list of influential people from the Hispanic world (that are either familiar or unfamiliar to students) and then give students freedom to choose the individuals they will use in the comparison. This will require and encourage students to do research in authentic sources.
This document includes the task handout to give to students to prepare for the presentation, a series of note-taking sheets for students to take notes while listening to other class presentations, and a sheet for the teacher to take notes and give a final grade. (The rubric used for assessing the student's performance is the AP World Language Exam Cultural Comparison Scoring Guidelines available from the College Board.)
