American Pageant Guided Reading 2.0 is designed to provide predictable and manageable homework assignments for students studying AP United States History. In order to cover the content efficiently and effectively, this package guides students through Time Period #4 (1800 to 1848), providing the foundation necessary to fuel class discussions and complement instructor lectures. This package includes the following resources:
"Tiles" style cover page - Ideal for introducing or reviewing an APUSH time period, each tile represents a key individual, event or concept that relates to the time period.
Chapter Synopsis: Each chapter's guided reading begins with a 300 word chapter synopsis. Student draw TWO key points from this short chapter introduction.
Chapter Guided Readings: Having course material introduced and reinforced textually is a solid approach to achieving content mastery. Each chapter contains a collection of questions to guide students through the 40 pages of chapter content. There are two types of guided reading questions:
#1 Standard written responses – Students generate answers to question prompts from the chapter content.
#2 Outlined and subheading responses – Students generate THREE pieces of specific factual information and generate a 1 to 2 sentence explanation of the subheading in the space provided.
Historical Thinking Skills: American Pageant Guided Reading 2.0 for Time Period #2 include historical thinking skills (Historical Causation, Comparison, Continuity and Change) in preparation for the national exam in May 2016.
In addition to the Guided Reading file for Time Period #2, this product also includes THREE additional resources for studying the time period:
Folder #1 American Pageant Chapter Quizzes - Each quiz is created for timed environment of 7-10 minutes providing students with the opportunity to apply detailed and specific knowledge (such as names, chronology, facts, and events) to broader historical understandings.
Folder #2 Audio Podcasts - Teachers (and students) can now investigate stories of the real people behind the often sterile descriptions found in history texts. Each podcast will bring to life the characters of history with summaries and anecdotes of the historical events that shaped the world.
