This is a lesson plan that I use with my 10th grades Advanced Placement US Government classes to help students study and review basic government concepts in preparation for the AP Exam; I have also adapted it for use with my regular Political Science classes to review for the final exam. This lesson includes 8 stations with varied and differentiated activities, with a strong focus on basic civics concepts such as the Constitution, Bill of Rights, three branches of government, Supreme Court Cases, and various government policies.
These stations include activities such as creating poems, unscrambling government documents, vocabulary matching, drawing pictures, classifying terms, and completing various charts/graphs/diagrams using relevant content.
When I use this lesson in my classes, I put students into groups of four, give them the handout, and have them rotate through the stations, spending about 5 minutes at each one. My students love to get chances to collaborate in groups and be creative with content.
