PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In this lesson, students, analyzing primary sources, will examine the mood of Americans prior to the War of 1812 and the causes for the war between Great Britain and the United States. There are 15 documents and each group will focus their studies on that document. They will then report their findings to the rest of the class. By the end of this lesson, students, from their previous knowledge, and from the analysis of these primary sources, will be able to answer the essential question in a well-organized five paragraph essay: “Was the War of 1812 inevitable? Explain.” The new DBQ rubric (2015) is attached at the end of this lesson for grading purposes.
