PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In this lesson, students, working in groups, will analyze the varied strategies, goals, and support that African Americans obtained during the 1960s. The lesson will begin with a class discussion on the positives and negatives that arose in the lives of African Americans in the post-Civil War era. This conversation will act as a segue to the examination of the evolution of the Civil Rights Movement that occurred in the 1960s where African Americans were guaranteed rights that had been denied due to discriminatory laws, such as the infamous Jim Crow Laws. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to answer the “Aim”/Essential Question in a well-developed essay.
