PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In this lesson, students, analyzing quotes, maps, and political cartoons, will learn about the Vietnam War and its perception by the federal government, the media and by the American public. Similar to conflicts in the future (i.e., Somalia and Iraq), the patience of the government, the press, and the American public is worn thin over a period of time because of not being able to achieve a “quick victory”. Students will learn, through their analysis, that while the United States’ military won every major engagement in Vietnam, the nation lost the war due to the growing discontent among the American public, which was fueled by the media reporting throughout the 12-year war (1963-1975).
