Teach students how to decode FRQ prompts and how to assess their own work, or their peer's, using the rating guides. Previous years FRQ's and rating guides are all available on the college board website. These can be an incredible study tool- ONLY IF the student knows how to use them.
Each page includes 2007 #3 prompt, two students answers, and a rating guide.
So what can this lesson look like? I like do this activity in groups. I like to print each page on poster paper so a couple students can work together and the can easily present. Each group will assess a section of the FRQ for two students (one med, one low level) and present their assessment to the class. Then all groups refer to the true score and reflect on their ability to decode the key and assess another students work.
