Description
This is a set of guided notes that I made for my APES students to take them through Environmental Science for the AP Course, 3rd ed., by Friedland & Relyea: Ch 1, Module 3 on the Scientific Method. At the end, students apply their knowledge from these notes by extracting information from an article about a COVID vaccine trial.
For this assignment, students are led through the chapter and guided to take notes on key terms. In the middle of the notes, I have them watch short videos on YouTube to help improve understanding/review information about variables, constants, and controls (the book is a little lacking here).
At the end, students answer the 5 questions at the chapter review and rate their confidence on their answers. Finally, they pull open an article about a COVID vaccine trial and apply what they learned in the notes (identifying variables, etc) to the trial.
This is in Google Docs; you could easily drop this into Classroom/Schoology (I print it and have my kids write by hand, as that helps sink information in better).
