I use creative writing prompts, along with images, for bell ringers in my Creative Writing class.
I've also used it with my English 10 students as bell ringers / writing prompts.
Each slide contains a prompt (example--Write a conversation between these two alpacas) along with an image.
I use bell ringers to have students work on different techniques, like script writing, flash fiction, etc. I've also used it to have students work on skills, like commas, sentence combining, and descriptive writing.
This is a ppt, easily editable, with 23 prompts.
My slides don't have any backgrounds, etc., since I teach inclusion classes and many students who are significantly below their grade level reading ability, and I have found that they prefer the slides without too many distractions.
It's also easy to use if you have a few minutes left at the end of an activity. I've used it for some friendly competition--Most Humorous Story, Most Likely to Never Happen Story, Most Likely to Happen to Me Story, Best Use of Imagery, etc.
Kids love to read their stories aloud and have classmates choose the best in each category. I keep a little tub of treats for the winners! This follow-up helps with the standards for speaking and listening.
At the end of the month, students pick one prompt to develop into a full-length submission. They often want to combine some of the prompts to create their story.
If you would like to send me 20 of your own photos, I will create Bell Ringer / Creative Writing prompts for them!
Thanks for your purchase! HAPPY TEACHING!
