A collection of weekly internet scavenger hunts that will cover the holidays and topics for August through October and are geared specifically toward high school and middle school students.
Each week has five questions relevant to that week of the year (ie April Fool's, Cinco de Mayo, end of the school year, etc..). For each question, students are asked to not only find the answer to the trivia question, but also to cite (using MLA style) the site from which they gained the information.
Answers are provided for all trivia questions although the actual sources for the answers will vary.
This is great to use as bell ringers or class starters. Once you students have completed a few to get used to it, these are also perfect as sub plans. If you use additional work or extra credit, these work in that way was well. I actually assign students one question a day and it is a race. You must answer correctly and also cite correctly using MLA.
Assign a question a day or one sheet of all 5 weekly questions all at one time – very versatile!
