This debate is a FANTASTIC way for students to analyze the various view points of the American Revolution. This is a group activity for APUSH students. I would suggest creating the groups so there are as even number of students in the groups as possible, but then allow the students to pick their own roles within the group.
The first page of the download is for students to receive the day the debate is assigned. I gave my students a week to complete the handout since they had other homework responsibilities for the class as well. The second page includes rules and suggestions for how the debate should run; this was handed the day the activity took place in class.
What is great about this activity is it can be used as a process grade or an assessment. It will also help hone their historical analytical skills in a fun and engaging manner!
