Print these pages back to back to create a handy bookmark that students will fill out while they read and then present to you when they are ready to take an Accelerated Reader quiz.
Some Benefits of using the "Ticket to Test" bookmark system:
1. Discourage students from testing without reading the book completely or at all.
2. Reinforce the academic vocabulary associated with reading both fiction and non-fiction texts.
3. Prevent cheating--students cannot test without a ticket, tickets must be presented and completely filled out before points are "officially" valid. (Students can't take tests for each other.)
4. By interacting with the text a little longer (by filling in the tickets), students will better process what they've read and recall what they've read more successfully.
Our media specialist keeps a stack of each ticket by her book check-out counter so that students can pick one up for each book they check out. Since implementing this system, cheating has been virtually eliminated and fewer students fail AR tests. It's solved a lot of problems with AR in my classroom!
