Mael Matthews is a leading Art educationalist in the UK. Using these schemes of study, Mael led his department to gain the highest exam grades in the country (2013 BASS Report, UK). The work of students was also used as exemplar material by the examination board and the visiting examiner said of the work examined;
“The displays, seen as a whole, were a visual extravaganza……Students confronted and researched “issues” which they all approached with great confidence. The activities were innovative in both content and delivery. The use of sound and video was a major feature of the submissions, as was the ambitious scale of much of the accompanying work…..the art was contextually and technologically challenging…. On occasion, the soundtracks and accompanying images were so emotionally charged they required no explanation……this is a course which exudes good practice, addresses contemporary art themes by encouraging experimentation and provides students with opportunities to demonstrate their developing knowledge, skills and understanding. The work was particularly noteworthy for its risk taking”
Mael is himself a Senior Art Examiner and provides advice and support in the delivry of Creative education in the UK.
The free sample provided is the Colour Unit of Study. We hope that this shows the general quality of the complete resource and that it is of benefit to your school.
