At our school, the final major project done at the end of the year is called a CPT.
This is one of them.
It involves painting a found shoe in a creative way.
They have to find an old shoe (any kind of shoe!), gesso it, and decorate it in the style of a "mentor artist". The end products are A-MAZING, and one that students often won't let me keep as exemplars.
It's a great, CHEAP, mixed media project that takes 3-4 weeks.
This package involves
-An explanation of how to create the shoes (the steps in the project)
-A mentor artist sketchbook page / research report assignment
-A proposal (last 2 pages), complete with a timeline for the project
-An inspiration Powerpoint with a step-by-step guide and loads of student exemplars
-A final self check-in survey for students
TIP - You can get really cheap shoes at Value Village, Walmart, and even the lost and found at school (once the janitors clean it out).
Sometimes I assign PAIRS of shoes, so students have to complete two. These look really great when on display.
