ASSIGNMENT FORM TEMPLATE (Excel) "Form for Recording Student Grades" provides secondary teachers of any discipline with a handy form on which to record student grades at any time. Some teachers use this editable form to record student grades prior to placing them on the school computer, especially when they are in the faculty lounge grading papers or at home after school hours. It can be printed and used in that way or you can put the form on your laptop and record directly onto the computer simply hitting the TAB key to move from one cell to the next.
If you are using a laptop or IPad, you can load the form (a new file for each class), key in the necessary information that you are going to need, and record the data directly on the computer by TABBING from one cell to the next. We highly suggest that you keep the original template as is and then rename it each time you create a new document.
This will protect the "original" and keep it free of any data. Having some knowledge of EXCEL spreadsheets and how they work is very helpful to the user.

By using a "paper copy," you can always transfer grades onto the school's record system as needed. If you prefer using printed forms, all you need to do is key the information into place (Names, Dates, Assignment Names, Points Possible, etc.) in advance, print a sheet for each class, and take these forms with you. You can always print additional copies to use as necessary.
PRINTING OF AN EXCEL SPREADSHEET: Spreadsheets are much different than word processed documents when it comes to printing. Every teacher who is familiar with spreadsheets knows this! Since printers operate differently, it impossible for Education Get Real to give you instructions about how to print spreadsheets on the printer you are using. You will need to select the printer type and (in most situations) make adjustments to the settings: size of paper, margins, position (landscape or portrait), and you may want to do some custom scaling (if you want it to fit on one page, etc.). You may also want to work with the page setup options. You will be much happier with your printouts once you spend some time getting to know your printer.
