Quick, easy method for accessing Cornell Notes in the AVID elective or other academic courses in which Cornell Notes are utilized. This check measures both QUANTITY and QUALITY of notes.
I use this check on a weekly basis in my high school AVID elective class to ensure that my students are taking the required amount of notes AND creating quality notes. This check is easy enough to be used by tutors, TAs, or even as a self-assessment by the students. I teach high school AVID, but this would definitely work in a junior high class as well.
PRO TIP: For the first week, have the students complete a self-assessment so that they can better understand the expectations through evaluating their own work. Even if the students inflate their grades, it's only one grade. :P
This has been the most efficient, helpful assessment for Cornell Notes that I have used in three years as an AVID elective teacher. After creating this check, the completion of quality Cornell has definitely increased in my students!
