These AVID WICOR Anchor Chart Posters are a great way to introduce and to review the fundamentals of WICOR with your students. Each poster is designed for each specific element of the WICOR process--Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading to Learn. Each poster also breaks down examples of activities that fall under each category. These posters can be used as you introduce these foundational concepts to your AVID Elementary or AVID Secondary students under a document camera or as a poster/anchor chart. Later they can be hung around the classroom for reference. I have included three versions of the posters for use in any AVID classroom.
In my classroom, one set is laminated and posted on the classroom walls for student reference during the learning day. Also, I have a set on my second whiteboard that I use as headings to my weekly reflections on our use of each element of WICOR during the week. Students work with me to review the learning that took place during the week and to categorize it onto the poster that represents the focus of the learning. They get very excited when we can reflect on several examples of WICOR learning for each category. My students write reflections of their learning each night as part of their homework and are encouraged to use the WICOR terminology in their reflections each night. I hope you find them very useful in your classroom as well. Please checkout my other AVID materials and other items in my store.
