Your students won't be able to resist the cute (au, aw) and not-so-cute (ew, ue) animals on this board game, which provides practice with the tricky vowel combinations au, aw, ew and ue. Players compete to complete the most words by combining the 72 word cards with missing vowel combinations with the 4 vowel combinations on the board to form words with the targeted sounds. Students will carefully check each other's work, because if they see a missed combination they can AW! or EW! and steal the card! Word lists (alphabetical and by vowel spelling) allow students to play independently. An optional recording sheet is included. Print out the place markers or use your own. You will need one die.
If you like AW! & EW! check out my Oink! game featuring cute pigs and the diphtongs oi, oy, ou and ow.
