Students get extra practice independently or in small group with Dunk It! games.
This game gives students practice matching abbreviations for:
-days of the week
-months of the year
-measurement of time, length, and capacity
-titles for people
Students draw from a pile and slap the match before their partner. The winner is the person who has the most matches.
My students can earn a brag tag by making all of the matches independently in a specific amount of time. While I pull students for small group, I pick an expert dunker who can check any student who has completed the matches on their own. This is a great incentive for my students!
There is a foldable envelope and cover for students to store their game in. They can easily be stored in a plastic sandwich container or in a baggie. I keep the games in the classroom for a few weeks, and then send the games home for more practice during homework.
I laminate the colored set and keep it stored for small groups or for when volunteers come into my classroom to help students.
