This activity serves to engage students in practicing to identify abiotic and biotic factors, along with analyzing a few scenarios to think about how these factors impact one another. The documents included:
- Assignment handout
- Mini cards (can be printed in color or black & white)
This activity can be utilized this activity after students have had the opportunity to learn about abiotic and biotic factors. Students can work with the mini cards to separate items into groups (biotic, abiotic, or both) before they fill in the Venn diagram on their handout. Some of them are thinkers! Once they have completed the Venn diagram portion, there are three scenarios for students to work through to again practice identifying abiotic/biotic factors, while also analyzing how they impact one another.
There are multiple ways to use this activity, whether as a homework or in-class activity, or even as a formative assessment. Additionally, depending on the grade level and abilities of students, you can choose to have students work together in groups or individually.
