Pique your students’ interest in the abolition movement! Working independently or in pairs, intermediate-grade learners conduct research to explore the lives of journalists, runaway slaves, ministers, politicians, and others who acted as catalysts in a time of social change.
The Abolitionist Research Project was designed to complement American history in the mid-1800s, provide opportunities to conduct a short research project and write informative text, and offer an aesthetically pleasing presentation for your classroom or hallway wall. It includes:
• 2 sheets to guide research
• 1 sheet for recording works cited
• 15 personalized photo/contribution sheets (one for each abolitionist) to use as stand-alone mini posters, report covers, or supplements to abolitionist display
• 15 personalized lined sheets for writing informative text (one for each abolitionist)
• 15 personalized blank sheets for typing informative text (one for each abolitionist)
• 1 lined sheet of stationery with no personalization
