This is an exciting worksheet that delves into what the Abolitionist movement was and analyzes the differences and similarities between Tubman, Garrison and Stowe. Excellent worksheet.

Aim: SWBAT define the abolition movement in written form and recall particular abolitionist associated with the abolition movement, their actions, and impacts.

Tier 3 Vocabulary: Abolition movement, To Abolish, Abolitionist, Harriet Tubman, Harriet Beecher Stowe, William Lloyd Garrison, Underground Railroad, “the Liberator” “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”

The Do Now activity will have a series of images which will foster and activate prior knowledge about the time period. Some of the images may include the term abolition which leads to an excellent classroom discussion about the topic.

Students will examine three documents about Stowe, Beecher and Douglas and answer a series of guided questions.

Students will answer an exit ticket which summarizes the lesson.
