There are so many ideas out there when it comes to guiding students to understand the role and history of early Aboriginal groups in Canada. I created this resource to help narrow the focus and provide clarity to students. I feel providing choice to students helps create engagement so this product is chalk full of options!
What is included:
1. Easy to read information pages on 5 tribes: Beothuk, Plains Cree, Haida, Mi'kmaq and Huron. The information is broken into a brief introduction, lifestyle (which includes shelter, food and clothing), a very brief culture/tradition section and a description explaining how the specific tribe interacted with the first Europeans. Each information pack is 2 pages in length, easy enough for struggling students to handle and include enough information for gifted students to use as a jumping off point.
2. Research templates to help your students organize their learning.
3. Project options with clear guidelines for 5 different projects that students can complete independently. Some projects require technology but some do not- making it easy for you to use in your classroom.
4. Rubrics for each of the five projects for easy assessment. Rubrics are written in student friendly language so they can be shared with the student prior to starting and provide them with clear guidelines and expectations.
