After spending two days on a jury, I returned to the classroom with the opportunity to teach a civics lesson! I wrote a one-page description of what it is like to serve on a jury, Based on this description, my students answered questions that I posed to them (i.e. about the roles of different people in the courtroom).
Later in the school year, my students will be enacting a trial in a courtroom. This description provides them with the background knowledge that they will need then.
