Have you ever tried to find a simple, easy-to understand slideshow or movie on an important American like Abraham Lincoln? One that students in 1st, 2nd or 3rd grade would not only be able to relate to but also one that would give them visuals and information that round out their education? The trouble with a lot of things on the internet is that they’re too detailed and on too high a grade level for little ones to understand. I know - I’ve looked for something for my students just before President’s Day, or Black History Month, etc. and come away frustrated and empty-handed. So I decided to put some slideshows together myself that my students will enjoy and that I know gives them the basic information they need. This unit includes two and a half pages of detailed notes on the 18 slides I’ve put together. The notes are available as a PDF - feel free to use as much of the information as your class can take in. The slideshow is available as an Apple Keynote, a Microsoft PowerPoint and a QuickTime Movie. (Note QuickTime Movie may not play without additional software.) And, please, check back to TPT to see the slideshows on George Washington, Martin Luther King, and other historical figures which I will be downloading.
