This resource is designed as reading and writing unit for upper elementary students. It can be equally utilized in an ELA class or a Social Studies class and would be an excellent resource for President's Day.
The four reading passages are:
Part 1: Abraham Lincoln’s Early Life;
Part 2: Lincoln at School and Work;
Part 3: Lincoln’s Early Years in Politics; and
Part 4: President Lincoln.
Each of the four texts can be used alone (but in sequence) or assigned all at once. Other features include:
---Three of the passages begin with a pre-reading question that can be answered in written form or used as a class discussion topic;
--- Each text has a page of questions (inference, factual, and opinion);
--- Each passage has a page of vocabulary and grammar work;.
--- Each of the four passages has a short writing assignment;
--- An answer key is included for objective student work.
