Students complete a 3 part interview to review President Lincoln. They first review his life and presidency, then they interview Lincoln after his inauguration, and in the third part students conduct his last interview before his death for a total of 16 questions and answers. There is a bonus creative opportunity as a final task. The answers are included where appropriate and this would work for a sub!
Sample questions include:
--Should Lincoln be considered one of the greatest American presidents? Explain your answer using at least 4 presidential events/speeches/characteristics/etc to support your “yes” or your “no” answer.
--How did Lincoln push the bounds of the executive office as a means to “get things done” as the Civil War began? Were such actions within the realm of the presidency, constitutional, or unconstitutional? Why or why not?
--Choosing between his House Divided speech, the Emancipation Proclamation, or the Gettysburg Address, which do you think was more significant during Lincoln’s lifetime and which is more significant today? Provide examples or reasoning to support your answer.
--Had you not been assassinated, what do you think you could have accomplished? How might Reconstruction have panned out?
--Do you have any regrets from your time as president? If so what and why, or why not?
