This short introductory activity will get your students hooked on Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation. The students will read a number of sassy quotes taken from contemporary reactions to the President's proclamation and summarize these views in a short paragraph. Your students will also hypothesize as to the content of the Emancipation Proclamation (just based on the quotes!).
