Create fun and useful absent folders to manage student work! Download includes 8 Absent Folder covers to be glued onto plain colored folders (and laminated for durability). Then, when students are absent, place a folder on their desk or the day (or you can put a student in charge of this). Throughout the day, any paper, handouts, newsletters, etc. that are passed out go into the absent folder for the absent student. At the end of the day, have a student in charge of emptying the absent student's folder, and placing all handouts in their cubby to go home. Alternately, you can leave the folder on the student's desk to accumulate work, and when they student returns THEY are responsible for putting all absent work/papers in their own cubby (or backpack). After teaching 1st and 2nd grades for 8 years, I find this is the EASIEST way to manage absent work! By putting students in charge of their own absent work, your classroom will run more smoothly and you'll have less to keep track of! Enjoy!
