How many times have we all heard students ask, "I was absent yesterday. Did I miss anything??" This is a great way to keep students informed of work they missed or need to turn in because of an absence! I used this in my seventh-grade math classroom for years and it worked great. Students also loved being included in the system and helping their peers.
Here's how it works - When a student is absent, assign a peer to fill out an absent form for them during class. The peer keeps track of any assignments turned in, activities done during class, and the assignment for that night. They record all of this on the form and collect any worksheets handed out for the absent student. At the end of class, the peer will staple all materials together and leave it in a designated spot for the absent student to pick up the next day!!
